Stylish Ways to Spend Your Tax Refund
A simple Google search will yield thousands of results telling you how to spend your tax refund. There's plenty of realistic, responsible advice like investing the money for later on in life. There's also starting that fixer upper project you've been putting off. Then there are the fun ideas like taking a vacation to a place you've never been before. Of course, I have a different idea: update my closet. With wardrobe updating in mind, I made two categories: Investment Buys and Affordable Favorites.
Spring Dresses
Spring dresses aren't the most groundbreaking of trends. Ever since I was a kid I have looked forward to warmer weather so I could live in sundresses. I wear them far less often as an adult, but I still love them. Spring dresses are a wardrobe staple although the trendy colors, patterns, and styles may change year after year. They can be worn casually during the day and dressed up at night. It's easy to create the perfect collection of spring dresses that are on trend or last for years to come. Whether they are short, mid-length, or long there's a spring dress that is perfect for everyone.
A Big 'Ol Bunch of (Street) Style Inspiration
Runways tell us what to wear, but can mostly feel like incredibly artistic statements no could ever pull off in real life. Street Style on the other hand really shows us how to bring these trends into real life. Okay, maybe not entirely into real life. I'm almost positive it takes a lot of planning to make a good outfit that gets noticed for the right reasons. Both ways we look to style inspiration have their pros and cons. One thing is absolutely true: I love looking at street style. Maybe too much.
Spring Trends Worth Embracing
Obviously, the runaways during fashion month tell us what trends are going to be popular for the next season. Of course, runway looks aren't always the most practical for daily life. They are worth lusting over multiple times a year, but not necessarily adapting regularly. Another reason runaways are more interesting to look at then copy is because not every trend is for everyone.
Everything I Want to Buy This Spring
Okay...maybe not everything I want to buy... Up until last week, I can't remember the last time I went shopping for clothes online or in store. I've been living in super casual sweaters and jeans for months. Not simply because it was winter, but I just didn't love my clothes. Not to mention my funk doesn't really encourage putting effort into my outfits. Nothing ever seems to look good enough to inspire confidence.
When I'm Bored I Browse...
I won't sugarcoat anything. January was a gigantic bummer. I had zero motivation to do anything. I'm not sure if it was just being over life's bullshit or the existential crisis that inevitably comes with finishing college and wondering why I can't get my life together if everyone else (seemingly) already has. But on the upside there's a Zara gift card burning a hole in my pocket.
Good As Gold
Everyone knows I have a long running obsession with rose gold. I think if its copper, rose gold, or marble I instantly want it. But there's one shimmery, metallic that everyone can get behind: Gold. I do love gold whether its simple like a sweater or cute like sprinkles on Christmas cookies. Whether it's being worn or just around the house, gold adds a little bit of excitement to everything.
Hitting the Gym In Style
Activewear has been a huge trend for a while now. It's more commonplace to wear these outfits everywhere from the grocery store to brunch. Speaking of which, can we stop wearing this stuff to brunch? Either way having really stylish activewear to the gym makes it much more fun to go. I'm definitely not a ratty, old clothes at the gym type of person. But lately I've felt myself slipping because the holidays did a number on me, and I wasn't feeling 100% great. I am trying to flip that down and reverse it so I went looking for some fit style inspo. It was not hard to find, and now I might have less of a problem looking good at the gym, but getting out of bed, to begin with, is a whole different story.
So I Want to Buy...Ankle Boots
Now that fall is (kinda) here finally, I think I really need a new pair of boots. There are tons of cute new styles and trendy colors. Burgundy is my jam right now, but white boots are super trendy. My favorite, of course, are simple and classic black boots.
