KYLE RICHARDS: Not enough
I was promised the final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. What I got was a buddy comedy between Michael and a guy named Corey.
Itโs four years after the events of Halloween Kills. Michael hasnโt been seen since. Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson and writing a memoir. Sheโs trying to move on, which is an option apparently nobody else in Haddonfield has considered.

Corey is a young man the town blames for an accident that ended with a kid dead. Heโs an outcast. One night he runs into Michael, who turns out has been living in a drainage pipe this entire time.
The two strike up an understanding. Corey starts learning from Michael. Allyson starts dating Corey. Laurie is not happy about any of it.
Eventually Laurie and Michael do get their last fight. The town makes very sure he doesnโt come back this time.
MY HUMBLE OPINION
Itโs a strange choice to make your final chapter mostly about a brand-new character. Corey and Michaelโs mentorship is more buddy comedy than horror. Michael is basically a gruff older coworker teaching the new guy the ropes.
The ending is mildly satisfying. I guess. Laurie and Michaelโs last fight is short and brutal, and the townโs send-off for his body is very final. Iโll take it.
But I have questions. What was Michael doing in that pipe for four years? What was he eating? Did he have a little setup down there? I need a spin-off series.
And the biggest minus: no Kyle Richards. Sheโs the real star of the Halloween movies. Lindsay survived 1978 and the mob in Kills. She deserved to be there for the finale.
Start the trilogy with Halloween (2018) or go all the way back to the 1978 original I covered for Horror-Thon 2021.
FUN FACT FOR YOUR NEXT DINNER PARTY
The opening title credits are in a blue italicized font, not the typical orange one the series is known for. They were used this time as homage to Halloween III: Season of the Witch, the one film not related to Michael Myers and released in 1982, 40 years before this one.
