THE DEPUTIES’ THEME MUSIC: Why?

Last year, I watched The Curse of Michael Myers, where we learned Michael had joined a cult. This year, we find out where it started. Here, with a tattoo and a man in silver-tipped boots.

One year after Halloween 4, Jamie Lloyd is in a children’s clinic. She’s stopped speaking, and she has a psychic connection to her uncle. She can see what Michael sees, and Michael, who survived, is back on his feet and heading for Haddonfield.

Dr. Loomis is convinced Jamie is the key to stopping him and is willing to use her as bait. Meanwhile, a mysterious man in black has arrived in town. Nobody knows who he is, and the movie doesn’t tell you either.

MY HUMBLE OPINION

Danielle Harris steals the show again. Jamie barely speaks for half the movie and gives the best performance.

The rest of the teens, though, are a lot. Tina is the most exhausting character in Halloween history, and that includes the sheriff’s daughter in 4.

Two bumbling deputies get literal clown-horn sound effects. In a slasher, I still don’t know who approved that.

And then there is the Man in Black. He shows up, he has a symbol tattooed on his wrist that matches Michael’s, and the movie ends without explaining any of it. The answer turned out to be a cult. I already know. It doesn’t help.

FUN FACT FOR YOUR NEXT DINNER PARTY

Halloween 5 is the lowest-grossing film in the entire series, according to Box Office Mojo. It only made $11.5 million against its budget of $5.5 million.
