My Christmas 2023 Decor Guide

Just like many I love decorating for Christmas. While I’m a modern aesthetic decor lover, I am a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas. That decor is not going up until the day AFTER Thanksgiving. I honestly love the decorations that are abstract and don’t fit the usual explosion of joy and Christmas cheer. But I also love collecting pieces that remind me of the decorations we used to put up when I was a kid. The vintage Santas, the kitschy 70s light-up trees, and everything in between. Unfortunately for me, this year I just haven’t been feeling it.

I don’t want to bring this post down, but the holidays after losing a parent are really hard. I honestly think hard is an understatement, especially given how much my dad loved Christmas. A real Clark Griswold who wanted to make sure everyone from his kids to his friends and coworkers had the greatest and most special holiday. I just couldn’t find it in my heart to pull all the decorations out and look at all the family ornaments while putting them on a tree that reminds me of the year he canceled Christmas. Despite these overarching feelings, I still managed to pick up a few things I couldn’t resist - including that light-up corgi which my dogs have a love/hate relationship with but it brought a smile to my face. I’m still making an effort to embrace everything I love about the season if things are a bit different, a bit strange, and sometimes even a bit sad.

If you know me, these feelings didn’t stop me from making an utterly incredible list of Christmas decorations I would add to my home in a second. The more contemporary and modern the better, I’m looking at you CB2. So keep scrolling to see a selection of things that get my seal of approval - in case you want to make any last-minute additions.
