SWIMWEAR TRENDS MAKING WAVES THIS YEAR

Ah, summer. Time for the love/hate relationship with swimwear to kick into full gear. Without being a complete Debbie Downer, I can admit this year’s most popular swim styles have really stepped up in a big way. From bright color palettes to retro prints and statement-making details, 2025’s trends are anything but basic. Whether you’re lounging poolside, heading on a sun-drenched getaway, or just chasing main-character energy at the beach, there is a suit and style to fit your vibe. It’s all about confidence, playfulness, and a hint of throwback charm. Let’s dive into the styles getting my splash of approval this season.

Is that a thing? I don’t know…

Deep Plunges

There are few things to avoid taking the plunge on, but this isn’t one of them. The deep plunge is back with an attitude. Plunging necklines are adding drama and a hint of elegance to swimwear silhouettes on one pieces or daring bikini tops. The deep plunge is honestly the perfect blend of sexy and sophisticated. The ideal suit for that moment you want to turn heads without saying a word. Plus, this style elongates the torso and is a perfect match for wide-brimmed hats and oversized sunglasses.

Stripes

Stripes never really go out of style. Classic yet fresh, stripes are having a moment and they are bolder than ever. Channel nautical-inspired verticals, candy-colored horizontals, and unexpected zigzags. Stripes bring a playful edge and flattering affect to swimwear, making them a go-to print for both minimalists and maximalists. Don’t be afraid to mix widths and directions for a modern twist.

Bright, Happy Colors

Neon, citrus, pastels, and everything in between. Vibrant hues are ruling the shoreline. This year’s color palette feels like a juice bar exploded in the best way possible. Barbie Pink, cobalt blue, and butter yellow are lighting up beaches and pools alike. These colors are about showing up, standing out, and embracing that dopamine-dressing energy in swim form.

Hardware Details

From chunky gold rings to belt buckles and chain strams, hardware is bringing high-fashion flair to swimwear. These accents instantly elevate a simple suit into a statement look. Think of it as beachwear with jewelry built in - no accessories needed. Look for polished metals, tortoiseshell touches, and subtle sparkle that catch the sun just right.

Color Blocking

This was a huge trend in activewear, and this graphic trend continues into swimwear playing with contrast and shape. From tri-tone one-pieces to bikinis with eye-catching details, color blocking adds structure and visual interest. It’s flattering, modern, and effortlessly cool especially paired with sleek coverups and sporty slides. This is one of my personal favorites.

Gingham

Gingham is no longer just for picnics. It’s going poolside in the cutest way. This retro check print is back in a ton of different colors and, of course, the tried and true classics. It evokes vintage charm with a flirty twist especially when paired with ruched detailing, ruffles, or high-waisted bottoms. Think Brigitte Bardot meets beach day chic.

Make a Splash

Swimwear this year is all about expression. From bold cuts, vibrant hues, and fashion-forward details that go beyond the basics. Whether you’re into timeless classics or eye-catching trends, there’s a look out there that will have you feeling your best under the sun. Grab the sunscreen, cue the summer playlist, and dive into a swimsuit that is anything but ordinary.
