WHAT TO WEAR RIGHT NOW
I can count the number of days I’ve stood in front of my closet blankly trying to find something to wear on one hand. It’s either just been way too cold to bother, or I’m just too bored to try and come up with anything worthwhile. That is usually when it’s time to send up the friendly fashion Bat Signal and hit the plethora of bookmarks and saves from recent weeks. But why be a gatekeeper?
For this month’s outfit inspo outfits, I’m feeling a mix of put together but not too fussy. Stylish but without trying too hard. Taking the tried and true pieces and giving them a bit of an updated edge. Think sharp tailoring, cozy textures, an understated, expensive look, and pops of color to keep things interesting. These outfits work just as well for a quick coffee run as they do for important meetings or even a dinner out. They can be worn no matter what day, what weather, or what mood you’re in. Plus, many of them are likely made up of pieces you already own, so if you’re taking part in No Spend January (or whatever it’s called), you’ve got it made for a few more days with new ways to style your old faves.

All black, Done Right
A head-to-toe black fit never fails, especially when the proportions and textures are dialed in. The barrel leg pants add modern structure but still feel relaxed. Layered with a long black coat and a cashmere crewneck sweater, this look is minimal but powerful. The grey tote bag breaks up the darkness just enough while the sunglasses and boots keep things sleek. It’s the type of outfit that feels confident with no extra effort required.

Soft structure + subtle drama
This look is proof that simple pieces can still make a statement. A black cashmere sweater serves as the perfect understated base, letting the architectural midi skirt shine with its fluid shape. Pointed-toe mules add polish while the belt introduces a bit of texture and edge. Finished with hoop earrings and a simple shoulder bag with gold accents, this outfit feels refined, modern, and ideal for days that require being put together without overthinking.

Cozy and Bold
Warmth, texture, and color. Everything about this look is instant drama and coziness. The red mock neck sweater adds a bold, confident pop while the high-rise jeans keep the look grounded and wearable. The knee-high socks and wedge pumps give it a slightly retro, fashion-forward feel. Topped off with the iconic Ingrid bag, this outfit is elevated and perfect for colder days that demand standing out.

Playful & Polished
This look mixes classic stables with playful touches. High-rise straight jeans anchor the outfit while the half-zip polo shirt brings the sporty-chic energy that is very now. Red pointed-toe ballet flats and a leather handbag add a bold color moment that is fresh and fun. Another fun use of knee-high stockings that is functional and stylish, and oval sunglasses tie it all together, creating a fashion-forward look that is perfect for days when the outfit can do all the talking.

January’s outfit inspiration is all about choosing pieces that look elevated, feel good, and still fit seamlessly into everyday life because it is freezing out there. And I am just not willing to sacrifice style, sorry. Whether you’re leaning into monochrome minimalism, playing with texture, or adding in pops of color for confidence, I hope these looks inspire you to remix what you already own and have fun getting dressed again the way they have done for me. Remember, style should feel expressive, effortless, and empowering; and these outfits are proof that it can be.
